Stephen Colbert’s potential homophobia as told by Breitbart and Voz

Stephen Colbert made a homophobic comment on his show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert regarding President Donald Trump and and Russian president Vladimir Putin. In a monologue on the show that premiered on Monday that was designed to berate the president as much as possible, Colbert claimed the only good thing the president’s mouth for “is being Vladimir Putin’s c*ck holster.” He came under fire on social media, specifically Twitter, after the show premiered.

Breitbart mentions the trending topic of #FireColbert that surfaced on Twitter after he made the comment. With this trending topic, Breitbart details the “double standard” of Liberals calling out Conservatives that make homophobic comments but choosing to not call out Liberals that do the same thing. Breitbart uses nine Tweets to form their story in which Colbert is a bigoted, homophobe that uses comedy to disrespect the President in lewd ways.

Breitbart uses a quote from an article by Vox that told a similar story. Instead of mentioning the Liberal accusation tendency as Breitbart did, the Vox article claims the comment made by Colbert reinforces the stigma in which a man kissing another man “is hilarious because it’s gay.” The article claims instead that Colbert’s comments were meant as a sad and homophobic joke but does not claim Colbert as a bigot or homophobe.
